Is It Safe To Use Products With GeoGard?

There are many different kinds of ingredients in the beauty products that are made today. You may use a product simply because you like the packaging, heard good things, maybe it was recommended to you. I'm sure most don't read what's actually in the products you're using. Furthermore, how do you know if it's safe to use? What Is GeoGard?

GeoGard Ultra is synergistic blend made of Gluconolactone and Sodium Benzoate. It's commonly used in beauty products for it's ability to act as a preservative slowly releasing gluconic acid. This is a mild, nontoxic acid that helps preserve lotions and moisturizers.

Why Is GeoGard In Beauty Products?

Although it's not a natural ingredient by nature, it's derived from organic and natural materials. It's been globally recognized as a safe ingredient and found as an efficient preservative booster that is also non-GMO.

Some beauty products use  parabens or formaldehyde releasers to try and get the same effect that happens naturally with GeoGard. The blend comprised of Gluconolactone and Sodium Benzoate contributes an added skin moisturization benefit. 

Can I Use Products That Contain This Ingredient?

It's safe to use products like shampoos, lotions, and body moisturizers who commonly use this ingredient. It's  NSF approved and has no health or safety controversy.
